Pau wasn't convinced by my video, and asked me to use a highly UV reactive material like a banknote:

Note how that 20 panel in the banknote reacts to uv, but as soon as it's behind the car shield it doesn't. That said, my studio room doesn't have curtains, so I'll do another test tonight when it's dark. And this time I'll move the visor with the torch shining in the same direction, which should hopefully put it beyond any doubt.

Here is another test of the shield I recommended through eBay, this time in the dark:

It obviously does block UV, like I said. I note that MacroLab3D's visor was not actually the one at the link I recommended, it was bought through a different website: "aliexpress.com", which may go some way towards explaining why the results are different. Pau, was yours bought at the exact same link I recommended (ie from merchant easybuyuk_19)?

Johan, thank you very much for performing the new tests.
Now it's clear: my shield, despite externally identical behaves very differently, so must be made of a different material, I suppose the same applies to MacroLab3D's. Redoing the same banknote test in your last video with mine I see perfectly the same fluorescence than without the shield just with a darker background.

Mine is: http://www.ebay.com/itm/262915890101?_t ... EBIDX%3AIT
(yours is more expensive, mainly because they charge 15 pounds for shipping to Spain)

I'm very sorry you guys got caught out by fakes :(

Since I have a movie on youtube showing how it should work, if you make and post a movie showing yours not working, you might be able to get a refund? A poor purchase rating also usually gets their attention. You have nothing to lose...

Update: johan asked me to post my results once I got the UV shield.

I purchased this UV shield on eBay for about $9.00. I tested it with a Convoy s2+ UV flashlight but I haven't installed the UV bandpass filter. I didn't know about the retrofit until today. I read that it uses the Nichia NCSU276A 365nm LED. I don't have a UV meter, so I did a visual test in a completely dark room. Mine worked fine. I also purchased a pair of SW114 Dakura safety glasses (not that I couldn't of found something less expensive). They too worked. Below are the exact links, the safety glasses specs and a picture of the box for the shield. The seller did a poor job packing the shield but it arrived safely.

Will the yellow shield also offer protection when using 450nm Royal Blue LEDs?
