Gosh - who'd have thought they looked like that? Proper eye opener!

Tea bag

Post by Olympusman »

At first I was bewildered, but then I realised this is some sort of metallic kitchen appliance used to steep tea in a cup. Very nice find and very nicely executed.

Mike, I think that it is a plastic mesh tea bag, it's imaged through a microscope likely with transmitted crossed pol ... Marek could clarify it

I did not measured the pores size but I can say that it was taken with 10 X SPlan Apo Oly and NFK 2,5 X.

Pau is right. It was the plastic mesh tea bag and it was taken using polarized light without any compensators.

Nice!
Tea bag had me scratching my head... it reminded me very much of the Nitex mesh material often used in plankton nets. But that's one of the beauties of microscopy... lots of things I've never seen before!

Very nice, Marek. If you'd made a riddle out of this not many forum members would have guessed the correct answer !

I expected it, so I did not make this as a ridle :) It would be too difficult, I think.

Marek,

Stunningly beautiful image sir!! Looks like a beautiful modern art painting from a fine art gallery!!

It's amazing to me what common things are so beautiful and intriguing when photographed at this level with skills like you have shown.

Thanks for posting.

Best,

Mike
